Playbrush is a simple concept. A manual toothbrush is placed into the colourful Playbrush device and is connected to a mobile phone or tablet via Bluetooth. There are currently 4 toothbrushing games to play where children aged 3 and above can fight green decay monsters, save the Tooth Fairy, fly planes and even paint pictures. The game is controlled by kids toothbrushing movements and built-in motion sensors measure toothbrushing positions, speed and duration. Playbrush also has a brand new parents app called Utoothia Family, where parents can track their childrens brushing data on graphs and charts over a sustained period of time. Any Questions? How did you come up with the idea for this product?
Playbrush was inspired by Kiwi, 3, who likes youtube videos and mobile games but does not like to brush his teeth. Kiwis mom would play short videos on youtube on the iPad to get him to brush but he would just watch the videos happily without moving the toothbrush in his mouth. We learnt that if Kiwi could associate short video games with his toothbrushing, he would be more motivated to brush his teeth. And that was the inspiration for Playbrush. Now with Playbrush, Kiwi enjoys brushing for 2 minutes twice a day, everyday!
What makes your product special?
Playbrush connects to over 90% of manual toothbrushes, and integrates easily with IOS and Android phones over bluetooth to provide a unique experience. Our games are beautifully designed to ensure children enjoy brushing regularly, accurately and for the right amount of time!
What has been the best part of your startup experience?
Startups are a lot of work and a lot of fun. The most rewarding part of this is getting to see your ideas and vision slowly get transformed into products that provide value to your customers. With Playbrush, getting to see kids all over the world using Playbrush to improve their daily toothbrushing makes all the work worthwhile. Also, we are quite glad about our humble beginnings and the trust our customers had in us, right from our early Kickstarter days! Our mission is to to get Playbrush into every bathroom in the world and we are glad to see many parents and children joining us on our exciting adventure!
